Duties and responsibilities:

Duties of this role may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Addressing client’s aspects of performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being, and life quality
  • Selecting and adapting the appropriate per case occupational therapy treatment model, method, and approach to direct the process of interventions
  • Applying interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL)
  • Address client’s aspects of performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being, and life quality
  • Select and adapt the appropriate per case occupational therapy treatment model, method, and approach to direct the process of interventions
  • Apply interventions to maximise safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL)
  • Teach clients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components
  • Assess client’s home and other environments and advice on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use
  • Guide and educate family members and caregivers
  • Observe, note, and report on progress of long and short-term treatment goals
  • Collect data and document processes followed
  • Regularly follow-up clients and maintain minimum standards of duty of care

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or Bachelor/Master of Occupational Therapy
  • Current AHPRA Registration
  • Working with Children Check
  • Criminal History Check

Experience:

Current AHPRA Registration and experience appropriate to each registration group:

Home Modifications
Experience & understanding of concepts & limitations of AS 1428 & other disability access standards & their application in accordance with a person’s needs & specifications of plans

Customised Prosthetics
Experience relevant to the specific customised technology

Therapeutic Supports
Experience in the profession and evidence of involvement in clinical supervision and professional development

  • Experience of working with people living with disability.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role (Preferably with NDIS participants)
  • Continuing Professional Development.
